- Position: full sun
- Soil: moist, well-drained, fertile soil
- Rate of growth: fast-growing
- Flowering period: April to May
- Hardiness: fully hardy
With large, pink double flowers, darkening as the flowering season progresses, ‘Beni-yutaka’ has an upright form that fans out to a vase shape as it matures. Ideal for small gardens, with great autumn colour displaying crimson with tones of orange and yellow prior to leaf fall.
- Garden care: Plant this bare-root tree as soon as you are able to and conditions allow, avoiding waterlogged or frozen soil. If youโre unable to plant straight away, we recommend temporarily planting in the ground or in a large pot filled with compost. Your tree will need to be secured to a wall or fence to avoid toppling over. When planting incorporate lots of well-rotted garden compost in the planting hole and stake firmly. Prune in summer to reduce the risk of silver leaf and bacterial canker. Cut back any dead, diseased, or crossing branches.
