An ornamental cherry to grace smaller gardens with its developing umbrella-shaped form and a profusion of enchanting, pure white bell-shaped flowers. These delicate blooms emerge from green buds and may bear small, dark red fruits from late summer. The serrated foliage of ‘Yamadei’, initially pale green, transforms into a vibrant palette of orange and red come autumn. Compact and relatively slow-growing, it thrives best in conditions that avoid extremes of wet or dry soils.
When planting incorporate lots of well-rotted garden compost in the planting hole and stake firmly. Lightly prune in summer to retain the shape and cut back any dead, diseased or crossing branches.
